Zuckerberg’s Facebook fan page gets hacked

admin | January 27, 2011 | 10:56 am

The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg had his Facebook fan page hacked

Many Facebook users were horrified to see earlier this week a message posted on Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook fan page (the founder of the social networking site).

The message read: “Let the hacking begin: If Facebook needs money, instead of going to the banks, why doesn’t Facebook let its users invest in Facebook in a social way? Why not transform Facebook into a ’social business’ the way Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus described it? What do you think? #hackercup20113

Apparently the message came from an unidentified hacker who had managed to illegally get into Zuckerberg’s fan page. It was quickly deleted and the fan page removed, but not before going unnoticed.

Facebook, and not just to pick on this site, social media in general has had its fair share of privacy concerns. What do you think of social networking? Do you think people are at risk using these social networking sites, revealing too much information? Or maybe you think it’s the new way to go? Let us know what you think.

Are we turning into a nation of Google and Facebook?

admin | January 26, 2011 | 5:33 pm

Do you think we are turning in to a nation of social networking Google and Facebook fans? Well, the American President, Barak Obama seems to think so. Gasp.

In his State of the Union Address, Obama said: “None of us can predict with certainty what the next big industry will be, or where the new jobs will come from.

Thirty years ago, we couldn’t know that something called the Internet would lead to an economic revolution. What we can do – what America does better than anyone – is spark the creativity and imagination of our people.

We are the nation that put cars in driveways and computers in offices; the nation of Edison and the Wright brothers; of Google and Facebook. In America, innovation doesn’t just change our lives. It’s how we make a living.”

There is definitely a buzz these days on social media. It seems internet is the new form of communication. Just think, a few years back many of us didn’t even have computers in our household. But now, well… as Bob Dylan once sang: “the times they are a’ changin’”. But what do you think on taking to social media?

It’s a hulk of a decision for the US with green PCs

admin | January 25, 2011 | 1:36 pm

The hulk of the decision may hit the US by storm with the arrival of the new green PC device

The USA is finally buckling down and realising that yes, global warming does indeed exist. In fact going green has hit the US by storm and now even a team of researchers are developing a new form of eco-friendly computers. Hallelujah!

Headed up in North Carolina State University, researchers are boasting that the device could potentially lead to faster starting, user-friendly technology. So what do you think about this? Don’t get too excited though, because the device is still undergoing testing.

It works by unifying the memory, unlike the traditional two distinct forms of memory computers rely on – volatile and non-volatile.

Traditional technology memory works either to increase speed, or to store permanently data, such as random access memory (RAM) or the newer variation DRAM. However, data can be lost when the power is switched off.

Meanwhile, non-volatile memory devices such as flash drives, USB dongles or other storage devices act as a form of permanent storage.

Putting this combination together, the new device would “enable computer makers to build machines that boot up almost instantly, as the information needed to start up the machine could be stored in fast memory,” says Dr Paul Franzon.

Computer memory

The device that will be placed inside PCs will boost performance levels, helping to improve the environment by cutting down on electricity costs and extra gadgets needed for storage. But do you think all these changes the US is making will help the environment, or improve technology levels? Do you think it’s a little too late? Let us know what you think.

What is pay per click? Services and solutions

admin | January 24, 2011 | 6:03 pm

Pay per click often abbreviated as PPC is an advertising model used over the World Wide Web. Businesses will agree to pay a set amount through PPC each time their advertisement is clicked.

PPC works when visitors click the online advertising and are then directed to the advertiser’s website.

The best example of a PPC advertising is Google’s PPC, called Google AdWords. The highlighted part of the screen shot below is an example of Google AdWords.

A storm is brewing for Google

admin | January 21, 2011 | 6:24 pm

A storm is brewing for Google

The search juggernaut engine Google has experienced plain sailing for the past few years, but that’s all about to change. Eric Schmidt has announced to the news that he will be stepping down as Google CEO…dun, dun, dun.

The strong backbone of the company will be walking out. We will all either witness the business continuity stride through the midst of disruptive events, or a hooked, line and sinker ending of the most popular search engine.

However, cracks are already beginning to show. Google faces three big problems that are dominating the internet.

The first problem is that it appears to be deteriorating. Second, social networking could bypass Google altogether. And third, regulators could do to Google what they did to Microsoft in the 1990s.

But Google still remains the most popular and commonly used search engine. It’s gone viral. So long as we keep loyal to the world dominating search engine, we will see it push through tough times and carry on sailing through.

The secret of popularity through social media

admin | January 21, 2011 | 12:54 pm

“True friends are like diamonds precious but rare. Fake friends are like fall leaves found everywhere.”

Social networking is pretty irresistible, isn’t it? We all want to be presented as likeable on these social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

But it’s not just family and friends linking to each other over the internet. Businesses are going global online, aiming to gather as many supporters and customers in every nook and cranny.

Social media is the new form of communicating. Unlike a newspaper or radio clip, with social media you can have a two-way conversation. This is a huge advantage of gaining popularity. You can express your opinion through comments, but still steer them away from profanities.

Online business is adjusting to these changes and is creeping further into social media sites, using them as a weapon to their advantage.

Online business needs to shine above competitors and they do this in various ways.

  • Great Advertising PPC or SEM through an exceptional web hosting company like Layer 7 hosting
  • Linking to similar sites to bring in quality traffic
  • Comments and monitoring of site
  • Quality content is a must for SEO
  • Up-to-date information and offers
  • Keeping an eye on competition to help improve SEO and content
  • Listening to advice and improving all the time to be the best

Social media is the instrument of communication these days. Get in contact with us to find out more about professional web hosting and social media integration.
